Write a Prisoner Today.

Write A Prisoner Today is a pen-pal service dedicated to those in the prison system! According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice, in 2009 more than 2.3 million people were incarcerated and 90% will be released one day. Our goal is to reduce recidivism by giving inmates the feeling of love, affection, and belongingness which is instinctually vital to all people both free and imprisoned. Recidivism is greatly reduced when an ex-offender has support from family or friends, to return to after incarceration.

Our mission is to give inmates a sense of hopefulness by connecting them to people on the “outside world.” Those from all walks of life have committed to our pen-pal service to communicate with inmates and have formed nurturing and unconditional friendships. Inmates are not only thrilled to communicate with pen-pals but have stated that it has been a “spiritually and emotionally fulfilling experience.” Write a Prisoner Today has enabled friends and family to stay in contact with their loved ones. So come on and give us a try.

Your journey with us can take many forms – from exchanging letters and sharing experiences to offering guidance and encouragement. By choosing to be part of “Write a Prisoner Today,” you’re embracing the power of empathy, compassion, and understanding. Your actions here can help break down the barriers of stigma, isolation, and despair, offering hope and the promise of a brighter future for everyone involved
